Climate change is becoming a serious issue in all over the world. North eastern region of India is one of the vulnerable region facing extreme events like drought ,flood etc at frequent interval. Rice being the main crop of the region is affected mostly by these abiotic stresses. Farmers being small and marginal, sufficient rice production is required to secure food as well as livelihood security. With this observation ICAR-KVK,West Garo hills took extra initiative to procure climate resilient paddy variety CR- Dhan 805 from NRRI, Cuttack which is one of the premier rice research institute in India for distribution among the farmers. During one day training programme on “IPM in paddy” conducted at village Marapara on 11/7/2024 by KVK scientist Dr.Joyoshree Mahanta, CTO (PP),that these climate resilient paddy variety CR-Dhan 805 was distributed to 30 farmers. Duration of the paddy is 125 days having yield potential of 5.5t/ha and resistant to BPH(Brown Plant Hopper) in addition to having climate resilience. The training programme was conducted by Dr.J.Mahanta,CTO (Plant Pathology)and method demonstration on Dapog nursery raising technique was conducted by Ms.Priyanka Saha, SMS(Agronomy). The technologies disseminated among the farmers created enthusiasm. Feed back from the farmers will further help KVK in dissemination of newer technologies in future to farmers field, which is the need of the hour to enhance production and secure livelihood.
