TECHNOLOGIES TESTED/ DEMONSTRATED BY KVK RI-BHOI

Sl No. Title of Technology Tested/Demonstrated (OFT, FLD, Others etc) Source of Technology & Year of Release (OFT/FLD) Season Kharif/ Rabi/ Round the year Details of Technology With Results
1. Evaluation of organic sources of nutrients on soil health and yield of tomato AAU, Jorhat. 2014, OFT Rabi, 2016-17 The name of the Technology was Evaluation of organic sources of Nutrients on Soil Health and yield of Tomato (var. Rocky). The treatment were 1. FYM @ 5t ha + Vermicompost @1 t/ha and 2. Poultry manure @2t/ha+ Pig manure @2 t/ha. Trial started in Last Week of Jan 2017 Current Status: Vegetative stage
2. Performance of INM in Capsicum AAU, Jorhat. 2014, OFT Rabi, 2016-17 The name of the Technology was Performance of INM in Capsicum (var. California wonder). The treatments were
  1. 1. 50% RDF (150:100:100) + Vermicompost @ 1.0 t/ha
  2. 2. Vermicompost@ 2.0 t /ha + Lime @ 500kg/ha + 2% urea spray at branching & pod initiation stage. Trial started in Dec 2016 and Current Status: Flowering stage
3. Performance of Paddy var. RCM-10 in mid altitude hills ICAR RC NEH, Umiam, 2008 OFT Kharif 2013 It is a Semi dwarf variety, glutinous and suitable for valley areas. Moderately resistant to gall midge, stem borer, blast and BLB. Av. yield ranges from 6.0-6.5t/ha. Since the local varieties are of very long duration so the farmers cannot go for second crop during Rabi season. Also local varieties are very tall in nature for which farmers suffer lodging loss. Therefore variety RCM-10 has been introduced which is of shorter duration and semi dwarf variety suitable for mid altitude hills. The av. Grain yield of 39.2 q/ha obtained with a B :C of 1.9.
4. Intercropping of Maize with Groundnut (2:2 ratio) ICAR RC NEH, Umiam, 2009 OFT Kharif 2013 Intercropping of Maize with Groundnut in 2:2 ratio was conducted with Maize variety RCM-1-3 which was sown at a spacing of 50 x10 cm along with Groundnut variety ICGS-76 with a spacing of 30 x 10 cm. Both the crops were sown together on the same day .Main Crop Yield(Maize) was found to be 33.30q/ha and intercrop (Groundnut) Yield of 21.3q/ha recorded with MEY of 38.92 q/ha
5. Effect of Liming on HYV of Maize ICAR RC NEH, Umiam, 2008 OFT Kharif 2012 The highly acidic soil with pH less than 5.0 and use of local variety with poor management practices was the main reason for low yield of maize crop. In order to raise the soil pH to 6.0 and to eliminate the toxic effect of nutrients for creating a favourable condition for root and uptake of nutrients in the soil liming is recommended. Since maize is a lime responsive crop, application of lime in furrows@ 500 kg/ha has been found to be beneficial where grain yield of limed plot was 32.8 q/ha against yield of 22.4 q/ha under un limed plot.
6. Intercropping of Maize with Soybean in 2:2 ratio ICAR RC NEH, Umiam, 2009 OFT Kharif 2014 On farm trial was conducted in Bhoirymbong village under rainfed condition to study the effect of intercropping of Maize with Soybean in 2:2 ratio. Maize variety RCM-1-3 was sown at a spacing of 50 x10 cm along with Soybean variety JS-335 with a spacing of 25 x 10 cm. It was found that intercropping had brought an additional income to the farmer. Moreover, a very good yield of Main crop (Maize) i.e. 32.45 q/ha and intercrop (soybean) yield of 12.5 q/ha and MEY of 48.2 q/ha were obtained which fetched an additional profit to the farmer.
7. Double mulch technology (Maize followed by Mustard) ICAR RC NEH, Umiam, 2008 OFT Kharif 2012 Mustard is a new crop for the farmers but they are interested to try as it has fetched them good income without much effort. Maize Yield of :39.2 q/ha and Mustard Yield along with Biomass/plant(g):6.75. No of pods/plant: 35,100 Seed weight: 0.32 g, Seed Yield(q/ha): 5.2 with net return of Rs59,500 and B : C of 1.9 were obtained.
8. Maize followed by French bean ICAR RC NEH, Umiam 2012 OFT Kharif 2015 After the harvest of Maize in upland the residual soil moisture is utilized by growing French bean with simple practices like mulching of maize straw immediately after sowing and kept till harvest. Maize yield of 32.8q/ha and additional French bean (seed yield)-8.5 q/ha was recorded with an MEY of 58.5 q/ha with C;B of 2.0.
9. Zero Tillage in Pea. ICAR RC NEH Umiam, 2012 OFT Rabi 2015 In lowland, the land remains fallow after the harvest of kharif rice in this region. The soil moisture is generally high at rice harvest and difficult to cultivate the land for growing Rabi crops. In such situation zero tillage is the option for cultivating pulses like pea and lentil in rice fallow. Zero tillage fetched an net income of Rs.25,850/- and C;B of 2.01 and Seed yield of -12.5 q/ha.
10. SRI Technology ICAR RC NEH, Umiam, 2008 OFT Kharif 2016 SRI is a system of growing rice that involves single seedling transplantation of young seedlings with care. It involves use of certain management practices which together provides better growing conditions for rice plants, particularly in the root zone than those for plants grown under traditional practices. Advantages of SRI are saving of seed cost as requirement is less, saving of water as dry method is followed, easy to maintain purity of seed as single seedling transplanting, incidence of pest and diseases low as soil is allowed to dry intermittently, higher yields due to profuse tillage and crop matures early and facilitate timely sowing of succeeding crops. With SRI Practice an Av grain yd of (q/ha )-39.5 and Net return of Rs. 34,700 was found with an C;B of 2.69.
11. Value addition of jackfruit for enhancing rural income KVK Uttarakhand ,Karnataka 2009 (OFT) Kharif 2012 Jackfruit papad
Raw jackfruit bulbs
Salt to taste
Spices (optional)
oil
Method:
  1. 1. Steam the bulbs in a cooker (no weight is used) for 20 minutes.
  2. 2. When cool, add salt, mix and mash well with hands. Do not use a mixer. The dough should be very soft.
  3. 3. Make small balls out of it.
  4. 4. Take two small plastic sheet pieces. Smear them with oil on one side of each sheet.
  5. 5. Place one ball on one oiled sheet; cover it with the other sheet, the oiled surface touching the ball.
  6. 6. Press plastic sheet covered ball with a manual wooden press or a metal press (a contrivance with two flat surfaces and a handle) to form round papad.
  7. Or else pat the ball (keeping it between the plastic sheets) with the fingers to form a uniform thin round papad.
  8. 7. Repeat the process till all the dough is done.
  9. 8. Dry them in the hot sun, if necessary in batches.
  10. 9. When completely dried, store them in an air tight container.
The total production of Jackfruit papad is about 4000 no’s in a month and the papad are sold in the village and nearby village. A profit of `5000 was earned with a CB ratio of 2.5 within a month as compared with `1000 earned from sale of whole fruit .The shelf life of the product was 6 months with a nutritive value of Protein-2.6g, mineral-0.9g, fiber-2.8g, iron-1.7mg and vitamin c-14mg per 100gms.
