Thadnongiaw Village, August 21, 2024 – A comprehensive day-long training programme on climate resilient poultry farming
was successfully conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ri Bhoi at Thadnongiaw village. The training was held under
the National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture – Technology Demonstration Component (NICRA-TDC) project, aimed at enhancing the sustainability and productivity
of poultry farming amidst changing climatic conditions.
The session drew the participation of 35 farmers and rural youth from the region, who were keen to learn about advanced poultry
farming techniques designed to withstand the challenges posed by climate variability. The training covered various aspects of climate resilient practices including innovative housing
designs, feed management, disease control, and adaptation strategies to mitigate the impacts of extreme weather events. Dr. Moloy S. Baruah, from ICAR KVK Ri Bhoi shared his insights on
practical solutions and cutting-edge technologies that can be employed to improve poultry farm resilience. The programme emphasized the importance of integrating traditional knowledge with
modern techniques to achieve better outcomes in poultry production. Feedback from the participants highlighted the relevance of the training in addressing their specific challenges and the potential
benefits of implementing the learned strategies in their farming practices. The training was a part of a broader initiative under the NICRA-TDC project, which aims to empower rural communities by promoting
climate-smart agricultural practices and enhancing their capacity to adapt to changing climatic conditions.
Later field visit was conducted by the experts from KVK Ri-Bhoi to give on spot solution of various obstacles faced by the poultry farmers.
