Three Days Training programme on Scientific Poultry Farming Organised

The Division of Animal and Fisheries Sciences organised a 3 days training programme on “Scientific Poultry Management for Enhancing the Livelihood of Tribal Farmers” from 29th to 31st January 2024 at Institute Poultry Farm. The programme was attended by 20 tribal farmers from 6 different villages of Ri Bhoi and East Khasi Hill districts of Meghalaya. During the training programme, the farmers were made aware of scientific poultry farming, feeding, health management, vaccination, brooding and hatchery management. During the programme, 400 Vanaraja chicks, poultry feed and vitamin and mineral supplements were distributed free among the trainees. The training programme was funded by Tribal Sub Plan fund of the institute. During the training programme Quinquennial Review Team (QRT) of ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research, Hyderabad interacted with the trainees and discussed about the issues related to backyard poultry farming in Meghalaya. The QRT comprises of Dr. KML Pathak, Chairman, Dr C.S. Prasad, Member and Dr. U. Rajkumar, Member Secretary. All the participants were provided with training certificates. The training programme was successfully conducted with the active participation of Dr. P. R. Dutta, CTO, Dr S. N. Abedin, YP-II and Dr. Melody Lalhriatpuii, SRF. Dr Sourabh Deori, Senior Scientist and Dr. Rahul Katiyar, Scientist were the Course Director and Co-Course Director for the training programme respectively.
