Three Days Training Programme on Artificial Insemination in Pig

        Under the All India Co-ordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Pig, the Division of Animal and Fisheries Sciences conducted a three days training programme on Artificial Insemination in Pig from 6th to 8th August, 2024 with an objective to increase the AI coverage in pigs. A total of 12 educated local tribal youths participated in the programme. Hands on training on different steps of Artificial Insemination (AI) like semen collection, processing, handling and AI were provided to the trainees. They were also made aware of different biosecurity measures to be followed in pig farms to prevent disease spread. At the end of training, each participant was provided with participation certificates, a pair of gumboots and apron. During the feedback session the participants expressed their satisfaction and thanked the Director of the institute and Dr Sandeep Ghatak, Head of the Division for organization of such training for the benefit of the local population. Dr Sourabh Deori, Senior Scientist and Dr Rahul Katiyar, Scientist acted as Course Director for the training programme with active support of Dr. Himsikha Chakravarty, Dr. Ethman A Marak, Mr. Dhan Bahadur Thapa and other staffs of the division.
