Plant Health Camp cum Inputs distribution at Purangang Village, Marngar

The Plant Health Camp conducted on 29th February 2024 at Purangang Village, Marngar, was a significant initiative organized by ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Umiam, under the Farmer FIRST Programme. The camp aimed to enhance farmers' knowledge and skills in plant health management, disease prevention, and sustainable agriculture practices.
Dr. Tasvina R Borah, a Senior Scientist and Co-PI, delivered a comprehensive lecture during the camp, focusing on topics related to disease prevention and sustainable agriculture techniques. The lecture provided farmers with valuable insights into maintaining the health and productivity of their crops, emphasizing the importance of proactive plant health management.
As a practical demonstration, Dr. Tasvina showcased the preparation and application of the Bordeaux mixture at Mrs. Julanie Damlong’s fruit orchard located at Borkhatsari village, Marngar cluster. This hands-on demonstration offered farmers a firsthand learning experience, allowing them to observe the technique and its application on fruit trees.
Furthermore, farmers were instructed on the proper application methods and timing for applying the Bordeaux mixture on their fruit trees to effectively manage diseases. Inputs required for the preparation of the Bordeaux mixture, such as copper sulphate and lime, were distributed to farmers, ensuring that they had the necessary resources to implement the demonstrated technique on their own farms.
The Plant Health Camp benefited 5 farmers from Marngar Village, providing them with knowledge, skills, and resources to effectively manage the health of their crops and improve agricultural productivity. By disseminating information on disease prevention and sustainable agriculture practices, the camp empowered farmers to adopt proactive measures for plant health management.
The hands-on demonstration of the Bordeaux mixture application offered farmers practical insights into disease management techniques, facilitating their understanding and implementation on their own farms. The distribution of inputs further supported farmers in adopting the demonstrated technique, promoting sustainable agriculture practices in the region.
