A training programme on “Management practices of rice and maize crops for quality seed production in Mizoram” was organized by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Mizoram Centre,Kolasibunder AICRP Seed Project (ISP) on 6thSeptember, 2024. A total of 35 selected farmers from Thingdawl, Meidum, Saiphai and Bukvanneivillages have attended the training programme. After, a short speech on the importance of quality seed for sustainable development from Dr. S. Doley, HORC, ICAR RC NEH Region, Mizoram Centre, the technical session was started by presentation on seed productionscenario and ongoing seed project, activities and varietal success in Mizoram by Dr. Lungmuana, Miss. Evelyn Lalparmawii, YP-II, NICRA presentedsoil health management and nutrient management. Mr. Vanthawmliana, Technical Assistant, GKMS presented on the role of GKMS project and weather forecasting and its importance and relationship with seed harvesting. Miss K. Lalmawiberi, YP-I, AICRP Seed project presented on the rice and maize cultivation management for quality seed production followed by farm visit. A fruitful interaction between the scientist and farmers on quality seed production and maintenance and other topics was there and urea was distributed to all the farmers.
