KVK, Ri-Bhoi ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam organized a Field day on HYV of Mazie var. Megha maize -1 at Mawbri village under NICRA Project on 12th Aug,2024. The programme was attended by 30 farmers with Scientist, SRF, NICRA from ICAR Complex. The programme was conducted to show the performance of maize variety which is found to be suitable for cultivation under lower hills in the field of Mrs. Susanna Lyngdoh.Dr. Meghna Sarma, SMS, Agronomy, KVK, Ri-Bhoi briefed the farmers about the cultivation package of the variety and encouraged them to adopt such variety for the next coming season for improvement of livelihood of farming community. Also Demonstration on Maize sheller was conducted by Dr. Hijam Jiten Singh, Scientist, SS, Division of Agril Engineering DSRE, ICAR which is an efficient and cost effective method of removing maize grains from the cob compared to traditional manual method. The farmers were very happy with the performance of the crop and the neighbouring farmers was motivated after seeing the success of the crop. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. T.
