The AICRP on Poultry Breeding (PB), ICAR RC For NEHR, Umiam Centre in collaboration with Division of Animal and Fisheries Sciences organised a Field Day on “Scientific Management of Poultry for Income Generation” on 15th March, 2024. During the programme a total of 51 tribal farmers from different districts of Meghalaya attended. The programme was funded from TSP Head of AICRP on Poultry Breeding. During the programme, the participants were demonstrated scientific poultry management including housing, feeding, vaccination and health care. They were also briefed about suitable poultry breeds for backyard poultry and their management. During the programme a total of 2050 poultry chicks, poultry feed, waterer and feeder were distributed among the participants. The participants thanked the Director of the institute and AICRP on PB for conducting the programme for the benefit of the tribal population of the state. Dr Sourabh Deori, Senior Scientist and PI of the project and Dr Rahul Katiyar, Scientist and Co-PI acted as Organizing Secretary and Co-Organising Secretary respectively for the programme. Dr P. R. Dutta (CTO), Dr. M. Lalhriatpuii (SRF) and Dr S.N. Abedin (YP-II) actively participated during the programme and demonstrated different managemental procedures to the participants.
