ICAR-KVK Namsai in collaboration with Coconut Development Board, Regional Office Guwahati, Assam successfully organised 2 days District Level Workshop on “Scientific Coconut Cultivation Technologies” and Field Orientation programme at KVK office premises and farmers field. A total of 140 participants including Zila Parishad Member, Chongkham Circle, Horticulture assistant, KVK Scientists and Farmers/FW were present in the said programme.
        The Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Namsai brief about the programme by highlighting the ongoing activities of the KVK. The Chief guest of the programme ZPM, Chow Jenia Namchoom urged the farmers’ of Namsai district to avail the facilities/technologies disseminated by the KVK Namsai.
        During the technical session Dr. Utpal Barua, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Namsai thoroughly discussed about Scientific cultivation methods, varieties, traditional - non traditional planting methods). Dr. Madhumita Sonowal Bora, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK Namsai discussed about importance of INM, IPM and IDM of Coconut. She also explained water management and soil conservation Mr. Mridul Talukdar, Horticulture Assistant, CDB, Guwahati shared information on Prospects of marketing and value addition in coconut. In next day field orientation programme conducted at Chongkham village where demonstration on planting and vermicompost application shown to the farmers.
