The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Longding was sanctioned by ICAR in the year 2017 vide sanctioned order no.F.No.A. Extn.9/7/2016-AE-I dated 29/06/2017. The foundation stone of the ICAR-KVK Longding was laid by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 18/03/2018 along with 24 other KVKs in 13 states. And it started functioning from 1st Sept.,2017 under the administrative control of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya. It falls under the umbrella of ICAR-Agriculture Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI)- Zone VI, Guwahati Assam. Since inception, this KVK has been working for the improvement of farming community in the district. It serves as a knowledge and resource centre in the district. Its core goals involve fostering agricultural innovations, disseminating agricultural technologies and enhancing overall agricultural landscape. |

- On-Farm Testing (OFT) to assess the location specificity of agricultural technologies under micro-farming situation.

Acheivements
- Demonstrated Paddy varieties–RCM-9, CAU-R1, Black rice, Ranjit and Ranjit Sub-1. Area covered 14.2 ha with 53 beneficiaries. Yield obtained 54q/ha , Net income 27200 and B:C ratio 2.01.
- Under FLD-Oilseed, Toria var. TS-36 and TS-67, area covered 120.0 ha with 200 beneficiaries. Yield obtained 10.4q/ha. Average net income 42460 and B:C ratio 2.97 .
- Developed 16 nos. of paddy based IFS Model (Fishery+Duckery + Horticultural crops) under NICRA. Net return recorded was 39400 per IFS/Year.
- Establishment 69 nos. of low cost vermicompost unit in different villages. Size of bed was 12x8x2 ft. and yield recorded 6.24q/unit /year and net return was 4140/unit/year.
