NFDB sponsored Skill Development Cum Training Programme on ‘Scientific fish culture methods and practices: Pond aquaculture’ organized

        A three day Skill development cum Training programme on ‘Scientific fish culture methods and practices: Pond aquaculture’ was successfully organised from 27-29 February, 2024 at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, L:amphelpat. The residential Skill development cum Training programme was sponsored by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad and attended by 25 numbers of fish farmer from different hills and valley districts of Manipur state. The training module was designed keeping in mind the unskilled fish farmers of Manipur state venturing into the profession of fish production from aquaculture ponds without appropriate level of skills and scientific know how. Apart from In-house scientists of the Centre, experts from KVKs, State Fisheries Department and Fisheries professional doing Start-up in the fisheries sector imparted skills and technical knowledge to fish farmers’ trainees during the training period. A field exposure visit at an award winning fish farm (M/s Tomba and Sons, Hiyangthang) of S. Surchandra Singh was also organized wherein he extended his on- farm skills and technical knowledge. Certificates were distributed in the valedictory programme by Dr. Ramgopal Laha, Head of Regional Centre (HoRC), ICAR Manipur Centre, Lamphelpat. Wakambam Anand Meetei, Scientist (Fisheries Resource Management) was the Course Director, Dr. Ch. Basudha Devi, Principal Scientist (Fish & Fisheries Science) and Ms. N. Peetambari Devi, Scientist (Fisheries Resource Management) were the Course Coordinator of the 3 –day Skill Development cum Training Programme.
